The goal of the foundation is to advance the practice of physical therapy through research. The focus of foundation funding is to increase the ranks of physical therapists prepared to succeed at nationally competitive grant awards from the NIH and similar agencies. There are also programs for seasoned faculty to pursue specific research areas.
The Pitt Mercer challenge is a contest among PT schools through which students raise money to support the foundation.
